BURNS NIGHT - PIPING
HOT BURNS -
Piping Hot will set your Burns Night on Fire!
Burns Night: If Rabbie Burns was to organize his own special parties the
emphasis would always be on good old-fashioned fun and frolics. Nowadays, however,
Burns Nights across the country, traditionally a part of every
organization’s annual programme, have become just another date on the calendar with
what once was poetry in motion coming more often to a grinding halt.

But now Britain's most popular after dinner speaker Les Peters, award-winning soprano Kirsty Kelly and World Champion Piper Kevin McLean have come together to provide the complete Burns Supper service from the Toast to the Haggis to Auld Lang Syne, with the emphasis firmly back on absolute entertainment. Piping Hot take all the hassle away from the organizers, making the guaranteed success of the celebrations more ode than oh-dear. The talents of laugh-a-minute Les and World Champion piper Kevin provide a welcome to your guests, the famous Selkirk Grace, the Toast to the Haggis, the Immortal Memory (the importance of Burns past and present), and the Toast to the Lassies, with Kirsty providing the traditional songs throughout the performance.
Kevin Mclean
is a World Champion piper. He started playing at the age of 11 and joined the
Royal Burgh of Stirling Pipe Band in 1994. In 2001 the Band won
the World Championships in Glasgow and continue to be at the forefront
of Scottish and World piping. Kevin has performed on the Great Wall
during a series of sell-out concerts in China, has played live
on Asian Television to more than 80 million viewers, he has starred
at the famous L'Orient Interceltique Festival in France twice,
at the 50th Edinburgh Military Tattoo as a guest of the
Argyll and Southern Highlanders, for HM The Queen at Balmoral
and in front of a whole host of stars and celebrities from the world of sport and
screen at venues including The Gleneagles Hotel.
Kevin enjoys nothing more than to combine
his love for music with his love of Burns and is always delighted to show why he
is in such demand all over the world.
Les Peters
is one of the country's busiest after dinner entertainers.
Being in great demand on the circuit all over Britain and beyond - he has performed
as far afield as Canada, America, Italy and Amsterdam - Les says
modestly that he may not be the best in the world, but he is certainly in the top
one!
Les spoke at the Captain's Dinner at Uphall Golf Club near Edinburgh on 17 consecutive occasions and Grace Neill’s, Ireland’s oldest pub, have just rebooked him for a third successive Burns Night.
The famous
Royal Jersey Golf Club say that he made their annual
event the “best-ever” and many other similarly special social events
have also enjoyed his highly-honed speaking skills.
A regular
at the likes of Old Trafford, Ibrox, Sheffield United
and Blackburn Rovers, sporting dinners –
golf, football, rugby, cricket and bowling clubs - can
all testify to the value and enjoyment of Les Peters. Testimonials,
business promotions, club evenings, speciality events, product launches,
fund-raising functions, Rotary and Round Table Charters,
PR occasions and many other special celebrations - his clients also
include The Royal Bank of Scotland and the
Freight Transport Association amongst many others with
corporate connections - have all been catered for by the man they
really do regard as Scotland’s top after dinner speaker.
But whatever
the event, Les tailors his speech to match the importance of the
occasion leaving no turn unstoned. This is the man who claims he
once even received a standing ovation before he started – mind you,
he was speaking at the Pile and Haemorrhoid Society Dinner!
And Les
is always particularly delighted to entertain with his unique blend
of stories and humour in honour of Scotland's national bard - Rabbie
Burns - providing advice on menu and other activities, many of which
can be used to offset the cost of the evening.
Kirsty Kelly
(23), an award-winning soprano, is currently studying
traditional singing and opera at The Royal Scottish Academy
of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
A regular with
Fife Opera, Kirsty sang in front of 2500 people
at the opening ceremony of the YWCA Conference in Kenya.
Her audience that day included the President of Kenya, Mary
Robinson (Past President of Ireland and now High Commissioner
for Human Rights), the First Lady of Honduras and
the Deputy President of South Africa.
A winner of many singing
competitions, Kirsty has also performed at venues all over the United
Kingdom – including the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh
– in Sweden, Finland, Belarus and Australia.
While not singing or
studying for her Performing and Teaching music degree at the
RSAMD, Kirsty is also National President
of the YWCA in Scotland, Vice President of the
YWCA in Great Britain and in July this year she was elected
on to the YWCA World Board.
Additionally,
if required, traditional Highland Dancers can also
be provided as part of the Piping Hot package.
