Littered with big ballads and 80's-tinged dance music, I Look To You is the first studio recording in 7 years from the legendary soul diva Whitney Houston. With unrivalled chart success dating back to her 1985 debut, 'Whitney', and with irrepressible hits such as 'I Will Always Love You' and 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', the 6-time Grammy-award winner returns in fine voice with 11 new tracks.

In combining funky R&B production with a radio-friendly club beat, 'Million Dollar Bill', written by Alicia Keys, is a lively start to the album, and the uptempo vibe continues with 'Nothin' But Love'. Houston's much publicised personal problems are documented triumphantly in 'I Didn't Know My Own Strength', an inspiring tale of restoring personal faith in the face of disaster, whilst 'A Song For You' is a highly enjoyable cover of the 1970's classic of the same name. Written by acclaimed songwriter Claude Kelly (responsible for penning hits by Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Lady GaGa), the bass-heavy 'Like I Never Left' eases the album into urban territory, with worthy guest vocals coming from US rapper, Akon. The impeccable songwriting skills of hip-hop legend R. Kelly are prominent in two of the most memorable tracks on I Look To You, the first being the title track itself: a beautiful, sentimental piano ballad. The marching, militaristic 'Salute' concludes the album on a hugely positive note.

Backed by a star-studded team of writers and producers, which could easily read as a who's who of modern R&B music, it's Houston's unmistakably powerful vocals that steal the show. With a perfect blend of soul, pop, dance and gospel, I Look To You is a beautifully polished, note-perfect record. 24 years into her illustrious career, Whitney Houston has arguably never sounded stronger.
