Glen Maney. Comedian. Isle of Wight. Born in London on 13th October 1964. Much older than his boyish good looks portray. Career in football at Northampton Town. Sunderland University second class degree in English and then went straight into a factory.
Tried most jobs. One day a comedian failed to appear for a Football Club Stag Night, so Glen got up on stage, liked it and the crowd liked it. Started compering on the Stag Circuit. Became bored with the same old jokes. Started writing observations and jokes.
Tried some open spots on the alternative Comedy Circuit and some 500 gigs later hasplayed most of the big comedy clubs.
Comedy Store. Jongleurs. Has a good reputation on the Corporate Gig Circuit.
Was part of the team assembled to wind up David Beckham on Rio’s World Cup wind ups. Sadly, David did a run for it !
Glen has written sketches for radio and TV and has appeared on television. The Stark Naked Chef for Rapido TV.
Films such as Green Street ( his choreographed fight scene that took all afternoon, where he saved Elijah Wood, was cut from the film ! It was too realistic I guess ! ).
Glen has done Army gigs and can adapt his act to any situation. starting off in Stag helped and writing his own (clean) material which has given him the advantage of being able to cover ANY audience’s needs.
Last few gigs were Stonehaven Town Hall – Mirth Control, Bedfordshire Police (Luton) Corporate, Pitlochry – EasyJest, Vandalism 360 – Corporate, Army -Salisbury. Glen is based in the Isle of Wight.
