Sister Big Stuff Manchester
Band consisting of professional and well seasoned musicians Sister Big Stuff have toured extensively across Europe and the UK as individuals with high credentials, having worked with established artists. These talented individuals have come together to deliver the best in music and entertainment specialising in Motown, Soul (Stax, Northern Soul and classic soul from across the decades), Disco and Funk music.
Sister Big Stuff is fronted by Beth Innes, an exceptional vocalist. After singing at jam and open mic sessions for over a year and a half, Beth decided to put together a Soul and Motown covers band. Described as an exciting upcoming talent, Beth says, “It took me some time to find a group of musicians who I felt could deliver a truly high class professional showcase, but that time has finally come”.
First on board came bassist Tg Sergeyevich, joining Sister Big Stuff all the way from South of Russia, with 3 years professional experience behind him. Tg’s sound is exceptional and his sound is that of someone who has been playing professionally for decades. Next on board with Sister Big Stuff came guitarist Chris Matic. Chris has been playing professionally in funk and soul bands forever and has played support gigs to classic soul bands such as Heatwave, Odyssey, The Dazz Band and Imagination, amongst many others. Beth says, “Chris’s professionalism and character shine through in his playing.”
Sister Big Stuff was then blessed with the arrival of Adrian Treacher, professional session drummer and drum tutor, with over twenty years experience in the music industry touring Europe and USA. He has worked with artists such as the Bay City Rollers and Alvin Stardust. You cannot fail to get up and dance as soon as Ade picks up his sticks! His driving beats leave us all in awe every time.
Tom Wilson then joined the Sister Big Stuff line up on keys. Tom has been playing professionally since the age of 12 and has over 30 years experience professionally as a musician, composer and producer. During his time with “The Nightcrawlers” Tom has had publishing contracts with both Virgin and Island Records.
Tom has performed solo and in many line-ups and as musical director of bands up to 14 piece. He has worked for many of the leading hotel groups in the UK and has performed for such luminaries as Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Randy Crawford, Steve Cropper (of Stax records and guitarist with Booker T and the Blues Brothers), Cliff Richard, Rick Wakeman, Johnny Mathis, to name but a few. Beth says, “Tom has an exceptional ear for music. He puts everything into his performance and the emotion behind his playing is exquisite.”
The line up was completed with an exceptional two piece brass section and a percussionist. Doug Neil is a session trombonist who plays and records with a number of bands including The Uplifters, who have supported various luminaries such as Bad Manners, The Beat and The Toasters (USA). Beth met Doug whilst he was playing with local ska band The Uplifters. Once Beth decided that SBS needed a brass section, she knew that Doug had to be in with the band and was delighted when he enthusiastically agreed.
Vince completed the line up on sax, having studied tenor, alto and soprano as part of his music degree at Salford University and played in several local function bands over the past few years. After Vince walked into the auditions and played to the band a sax solo, SBS knew that they had found the ideal brass section.
The line up was completed with the addition of Rome, a fantastic local percussionist, recently. The addition of a brass section and percussionist to SBS has taken the band’s sound to a whole new level. The band may be interested in female session drummers – you can but ask!
