Born to Irish parents in the UK, one of her grandparents, (both of whom were Irish American), "Patrick Connolly" was a song writer who had a lot of his work published in the USA. Melody says that this is probably where she got her singing genes. She grew up listening to Irish and American music, especially at family gatherings and on special occasions and  became so interested in country music that she got a job with "Country Hits Magazine" in the UK where she met numerous artistes from the USA and after talking to some decided to go to Nashville to record an album.
