One Man Band: Born in 1949 Paul was brought up in the West Midlands and traditionally educated on a diet of the three 'r's plus music and country dance. He rose to the heights of Head Chorister with the local church and sang in Lichfield Cathedral and on BBC Light Programme and BBC TV.

"I was playing a lot of different instruments and on one occasion was booked to play in Herefordshire at a Festival Of Eccentric Music. At the end of my stage performance I was approached by an audience member who said that with a drum on my back I would be a One Man Band. So the concept was born. Since then I have developed three rigs. The favourite of course is the 'back drum' rig, a traditional acoustic setup. Added to that can be a suitcase bass and washboard (on wheels). I have also developed a sack truck mounted digital version which I use on stage for dances, weddings or indeed any concert performance."

"I work without set lists and operate at a very spontaneous level responding to what I see and hear as I perform. Once described by a now defunct national country music magazine as the 'Arthur Mullard of country music' but as an entertainer, second to none!  I have a bumbling laid back style which seems to fit very well with what I do." Instruments comprise - guitars, mandolin, ukulele, banjolele, harmonica, Q, keyboard, spoons, bones. One Man Band instrumentation adds drum, cymbals, whistles and kazoo

Notable musical achievements have been : Pre 2006 - 2 seasons with SAGA Holidays Heritage Holidays. August 2006 - recorded and filmed for Triplestop Films on behalf of Channel 4 TV. July 2007  recorded and filmed at Elstree Film Studios, Borehamwood for Disney Films. August 2007 - Brighton Pride Festival. February 2008 - recorded and filmed in Islington. February 2008 - booked by Stella McCartney to provide point of sale entertainment at her fashion event in Selfridges Oxford St store, London.  March 2008 - booked again by Stella McCartney to provide street and in store entertainment at her new store in Le Bon Marche Rue de Babylon, Paris. April 2008  Woody's One Man Band - A Memoir, published by LULU Publishing. June 2008  Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts providing afternoon entertainment for Stella McCartney & co prior to Paul McCartney's Anfield concert.
